This week's sign that the apocalypse is upon us:
The case of The Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants a.k.a Homie needs a new set of draw's.
Roy L. Pearson is a lawyer-turned-judge who is suing the Chungs, a married couple who run several dry cleaning entities in the Washington D.C. area, for 65 MILLION dollars because they didn't have his pants ready for him in time, despite their offer to settle the whole thing by giving him $12,000. Among his reasons for the millons...he needs to get a car to find another dry cleaning business.
If you would like to contribute to the Chungs' defense fund, you can go to www.customcleanersdefensefund.com Edit: The site is now up and running!
If you would like to get more details in a case Mr. Pearson has been involved in the past, you can go here to read about his divorce proceedings where he requested spousal support from his wife. (This is public information available on the Virginia court system website.)
If you would like to ask over online the Office of Administrative Hearings, where he works, any questions about the case, you can go to this website.
If you would like to send Mr. Pearson any consolation gifts, such as 300 pairs of pants or a bucket full of common sense, to ease the pain of the case of the brotherhood of the traveling pants, the address and phone to the OAH can be found here.
If you would like to know why this man exists, you can ask Charles Darwin why his theory of evolution failed.
I read somewhere that the Chungs are now contemplating moving back to South Korea because of this man.
Edit: Let me know if anyone finds an online petitition or anything about this...

am i the first one to comment? woo hoo.
what an ar$e hole
pearson is the most despicable human being.
i read about that the other day.
it's unbelievable.
he ought to go to jail for wasting tax payers $.
just goes to show how shaddy our legal/justice system is! horrible lawyer, jerk ass!
o, see you on saturday too btw! =)
Aww...
May the fourth be with you!
Geez. It's people like this loser who give lawyers a bad name!!!
After reading the divorce court documents, i hate him even more. People like this are totally gross.
I watched that on American new show this morning! Sue the pants off them, as the lametard host said. haha
What an idiot. He's going to get disbarred.
ryc: That's why I asked that question...b/c hubby and I have totally different takes on what it means. I say that it is to no longer be angry about it, and he thinks it is more along the lines of saying "it's okay, I don't care that you did that." I don't think forgiveness has anything to do at all with saying what was done is okay. If something is okay they can do it any time they want, right? But anyways...I feel bad for that couple, that lawyer/judge is a jerk. A broke jerk too if he can't even afford a car!
maybe this is his inadvertent way to retire because after this I can't see how he's going to be able to keep his job....it's so wrong on so many levels
this sucks. i really hope there's some justice in the world. i want him to not get one red cent.
My advisor said, "That attorney is part of the 90% that gives the other 10 a bad name."
Those DC lawyers and lobbyists can be snobs like that. How sad.
From CNN: American Tort Reform Association President Sherman Joyce urged a reappointment panel to weigh if Pearson's "judicial temperament" is sufficient to "properly" serve.
He's a jerk and he'll probably be fired. But then again he'd probably sue the Chungs again for him losing his job!
It's a sad comment on our legal system that things like this (and the thousands of other frivolous lawsuits) are even allowed to go to trial.
omg, i read that online and i got so mad after reading that! seriously...why in the heck was he put on this earth? this lawsuit is ridiculous and absurd. somebody would go through all that trouble just cuz of a missing pants?? LOSER
i heard about this on the news briefly, but i didn't realize how retarded the entire lawsuit was. and it's actually going to court? this guy is the epitome of an assh0le
that's why ppl hate lawyers!...
I can't believe that this is for real. I can't believe some man is suing a nice looking couple for a pair of pants that was late. I can see getting mad and wanting the pants to be dry cleaned for free.. but suing them for that insane amount of money? Gotta be kidding me! Oh the injustice!
I just read the article. Dude.. they have his pants. How childish is he? I mean... they are not responsible for his car rental, for his lameness is spending hours on a case that has no basis. And they have offered him way more than he should get for a pair of misplaced pants! MAN!
i hope they sue him back for lawyer fees and time wasted on this trivial matter. And I hope he gets fired. ARGH!
rediculous.
that is appalling...if that guy wins a penny we need to revamp our judicial system.
crazy bastard... what a grade A world class asshole
It's insane how lawsuit-happy some people are in this country.
ryc: Yeah, trust is a delicate thing. It just seems like the more it's broken, the less willing you are to give it away next time.
I read on this yesterday and it's sick. I'm glad we have freedoms.. but some people are just abusing the provileges. I guess in this case, I just pray/think that something will cycle and kick him in the butt..
is that too mean?
Thanks for posting about this!
RYC: Hey where is your Haole love? I am not feeling it
(
i heard about this guy. what a bag of slime.
ryc: thanks for the overview! we've decided to stay on the big island because joseph wants to go to the giant fruit market. and we'll make a side trip to another island, tbd. i think that's all we have planned so far. i want beaches and scenery, joseph wants fresh fruits and food. those're our focuses. neither of us are really into nightlife and drinking. more suggestions are welcome!
some people are just so ridiculous!
I'm not shocked. Litigious as hell. My gran was sued by a guy that ran into HER car with his bike, and he was claiming tht the accident made it impossible for him to get an erection. he wasn't hit in the "area", either. Case was dismissed and he was ordered to pay all the legal costs.
ryc: Hehe...yes, I am in the pic. I am the one in the middle. Actually, it was taken when I worked at the Maxim/Budlight Exposure party a couple of years ago. I put it up there so that new people wouldn't know which one is me. =D
64mill for the win
hahaha, the Brotherhood and the travelling pants
That guy should be hung and stoned. A very good example of misusing power.
yeah, i read about this... he gives the justice system a bad name.
he will burn in hell w/out his pants on. dispicable.
I heard about this. Lol, you can sue for anything now0_o
well. the complaints are emailed but i doubt they'd respond. where you find this info?
this is really silly. the chungs probably don't even have 65 million dollars. what's the point of suing someone for money they don't even have? they're gonna keep working for the rest of their lives until they pay off that money? no way. there's no way they can even earn a net of 1 million dollars in their lives. i don't know. it's drycleaning... people sue over the stupidest things in north america.
Wow, that is really stupid. Umm... prayers for this case.
I suspect that there is a different side of the story. I understand that the figure seems high no matter what, but sometimes people ask for large sums not because they really expect to win, they just want annoy/inconvenience/bankrupt the other side because they are sufficiently angered.
And I have my reason to suspect that there is something which the media is not telling us. Remember the McDonald's case? An old lady got hurt when she put her coffee between her legs and she was awarded a large judgment against the restaurant chain. Many people called the case ridiculous, but they don't know the real reason why the plaintiff won in that case. McDonald, based on undisputed proof, consistently set the temperature of their coffee at 20-30 degrees above the industry standard, and as a result, MANY customers were already injured before the case. Therefore, when the court ruled in the lady's favor, it was really punishing McDonald for its continuous disregard of customer safety. And alas, the true nature of that case never saw the light of day.
By the way, this due is an admin law judge. I bet you 10 dollars that he would not have done this if he were a "real" (i.e. Article III) judge.
ryc: only if it means i get to openly stalk you at the same time. =)
oh yea bunches...when are you comin to LA?
this article gets me so angry every time i read it... but hahahaha at the part in your post about sending a consolation gift.
I read about this from Chinapocahontas - talk about greedy and just plain RUDE! I love how you put many options for contacting this guy...too funny. No wonder he's getting a divorce. She probably asked for money from him and he countered by asking for more from her. Hopefully any judge will know the whole story and will tell the guy he's a greedy SOB who needs to learn a lesson.
RYC: I didn't say boyfriend THAT many times, it was just pertenent to the story and since I don't use his name.....
that would be a sight now wouldn't it?
If assholes would fly, we would never see the sun!! Unbelievable. Talk about frivolous lawsuits.
Will. Shakespeare was right about lawyers even back then!
Total B.S. I bet he dresses up like a hobo to get free meals at soup kitchens, too.
haha. I'm a little disturb as well, but then it's the alumni center, so I think it's supposed to be like that.
what a freak!
that's such a sad way to abuse the system.
ridiculous! a car and a pair of pants does not cost 65 million dollars!
damn straight im more gangsta!
ryc: no, i m not pregnant,doctor!
that poor family. i hope they disbar that guy, what a jerk
ryc: :ahem: so are you saying my katsudon making ability is my only redeeming quality? did you forget that i'm an amazing spam musubi maker as well???
heroes is great, but i seriously have no time for televison right now. i'm gonna pick up the season 1 dvd's when they come out and have a heroes marathon party after this crazy summer is over. you should come down for it!!!!
damn, them girls can dance.... i think i even seen a couple dudes in there.
if you liked that then you'd love this up and coming band that dances that exact same way... i think they're called NSYNC.
crazy world we live in.
no, I am NOT pregnant. Should I take iron anyway, doc?
no, i didn't get an iron study. figure it would be too expensive for a med student to pay w/ a shitty school insurance. I just checked my multi-vit bottle, who i started taking a week ago. it contains ferrous fumarate. will this be good or should i really have to take ferrous sulfate and get constipated?
i think i m going to ask my dad to cook me some liver when i go home
aw Frank, they weren't doing anything too complicated, with practice you could smoke 'em
amazing what people will do for a...pair of pants...hey i laughed at your comment to silly408 about being blind...but as usual i must disagree as you are not nearly as freaky looking as some others...har
ryc: Hehe...don't worry. You have that ultra extra special something. You're almost perfect, remember? =)
Hmm...am I assuming? I thought that you were referring to yourself, but you could be referring to the Asian male population. Okay, I am overanalyzing...lol.
ok, this is not supposed to make me chuckle.
messaged you.
Only read your post, but stuff likes this makes me wish there was some sort of penalty for frivolous lawsuits. Such a person without reason...
