Next Week!
New post next week! In the meantime, my thoughts on last week’s America's Best (Rigged) Dance Crew:
- BreakSk8: The Spanish, Chinese, Romans and Greeks all had their turns as the best in the world but eventually had to step down. BreakSk8, you are not an empire, much less a dancing crew (although nice try impersonating Kaba Modern in the beginning of your routine) so no surprise that you are OUT!
- Jabbawockeez: Nice job.
- Status Quo: I still don’t see much dancing, just more flips than Manila. They couldn’t even do MC Hammer justice in a prior episode. But I guess using a rubberband trick on a chair was good, uh, dancing?
- Kaba Modern: Shafted. I’ve read in multiple places that MTV changed their music the day before the show and Kaba subsequently had to change their routine. No wonder they weren’t as sharp as they normally are. The conspiracy theorist in me says that there is no way the producers—or whoever is calling the shots—is going to let 2 Asian American crews (Jabba has 1 non-Asian) in the finals, and Kaba getting dirtied last week (music switch and being placed in the bottom two) is proof positive. I’m predicting that they will not let Kaba Modern enter the finals. My_notes_to_self also heard through the grapevine that SQ got a little extra help as well from a professional.
- Judges: I guess it doesn’t matter if you have judges who can’t speak English well because the show is more rigged than a WWE wrestling match. In any case, did you see them all stand up to applaud BreakSk8 when they left? Shane Sparks is a midget compared to JC! Haha!
Well, at least Kaba Modern and Jabbawockeez got some good exposure out of this and that the ladies of America learned that Asian men can dance...except for me since I don't dance, I just pull up my pants and do the rockaway with a cheeseburger in my left hand.

Edit: So Kaba really did get kicked off. This show is such a joke. Randy Jackson should be ashamed of himself. Or as Lil Mama and Shane Sparks would say, "Hisself."

I haven't been following that show, but I do love a good conspiracy theory. Is there a stereotype that Asian people can't dance? Really?! I thought it was common knowledge that hip-hop dancing and snowboarding were Asian people's only tickets to coolness... haha

Haha, it's okay man. Kaba still won #1 in the US Hip-Hop nationals & #2 in the Internationals, which gives them much more cred in the dance industry than this show. I actually heard, was that SQ was the predetermined winner before the show ever started cause the producers wanted a team 'that was from the streets' to win it. With this kind of info leaking out, I don't advise you watch next season (if there is one)...cause it'll be all scrubs.

You know, I still haven't seen this show. I think I saw it once while flipping through the channels so I could play xbox but that's about it. LOL
changed their music last minute...really now? I'm cheering for kaba or jabba either one wins and I'm happy.
Status Quo sucks, lol. All they do is jump. No dancing at all. Kabaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

myles and i talked about this yesterday. i doubt mtv would let two asian groups face off also.
I think it's all rigged to start with and they already know who they want to win. SQ is going to win, no matter what performance they're going to give at this point. I really hope Jabbawockeez wins, but something tells me it's not going to happen.

i completely agree and it pisses me off that this show is rigged. STUPID STUPID STUPID. Status Quo doesn't dance, they just do flips and tricks, and not even GREAT ones at that. I really hope JabbawockeeZ wins now that Kabba has been kicked off (utterly lame decision). They gotta represent some real hip hop. I resent the fact that MTV has to let a crew "from the streets" win even if they have NO talent compared to the crews that aren't exactly "from the streets." some reverse racism up in there, man.
should you really downplay the tv show though>? i rather have more viewers tune in and have the show prosper and let there be a venue on tv for dance crews to be showcased. and to gain popularity.

You don't understand..I wanted to cry and break something when I saw Status Quo got more votes than Kaba Modern or Jabbawockeez... c'mon..everybody knows they're favourites...but apparently not for Randy Jackson...we know one thing about Randy though; he ain't racist against black clowns.
